Franke Park MTB Trail Improvements

Have you been out to Franke Park lately? There have been several new features added with the funds accrused from our last gofundme venture. We love improving the trail, but we can't do it without a little help! NITRO wants to improve the trailhead and kiosk area at Franke Park. We will also be hosting the NITRO Challenge MTB race at Franke Park in September. Your donation are needed for NITRO to continue creating great mountain biking experineces in the community.

· Who we are: We are the Northeast Indiana Trail Riders Organization, better known as NITRO. In the summer of 2012 we officially became your local chapter of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). Our passion is mountain biking and we are proud to call Fort Wayne, IN our home.
· Our Mission: Our mission is to create, enhance and preserve great trail experiences for mountain bikers in Northeast Indiana, and to promote responsible mountain biking for men, women, and children of all ages and skill levels.
· Our Goal: Our goal is to partner with land managers to help build and enhance sustainable natural surface trail systems for all trail users.
· What We Do: We add value to our park systems through proven conservation efforts and we promote healthy lifestyles by getting families together to play outside.
· Why It Matters: Great trails experiences don’t happen by accident. It is through the efforts of many dedicated members and volunteers that keep our trail systems open by hosting trail work days and fundraising events throughout the year.
· History and Objectives:
o In the beginning as an IMBA Chapter without a home trail system we put our building skills together to build portable features to simulate what you might encounter on a natural surface trail system. One of our first objectives was to set a brand for ourselves as family friendly. Portable skills features allowed us to participate in local festivals and to hold our own fundraising events including; Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, Outdoors Indiana Festival, and Fort4Fitness Spring Cycle/Kickstart4Kids.
o Our next objective was education and training. In our second year we were able to gain a corporate sponsorships who helped bring in professional trail crews like the IMBA/Subaru Trail Care Crew who held a weekend training session and trail building experience in Fort Wayne at Franke Park. Also one of our local bicycle shops brought in the Trek Trail Designer Program who spent a week with our lead trail builders again at Franke Park working up a master plan for overall reroutes and new sustainable trail design.
o Now in our third year and having an official trail system, Franke Park, in our care we can put the two experiences together to create, enhance and preserve our urban trail system with purpose built, sustainable trails that will bring family friendly fun for many years to come.
o Future objectives are to continue building our memberships and volunteer base through additional fundraising and educational experiences. We fully understand that with continuing to grow our people base we not only bring in money for needed supplies but we also continue to strengthen our advocacy efforts and train our replacements for future board members to carry on our passion for mountain biking.
