Lombok Earthquake Relief

Donation protected
Over the past year I was given the opportunity to work in the beautiful island of Lombok helping its citizens establish and legalize their village boundaries through the PMaP 6 project . I was welcomed into countless homes and communities with generosity, excitement, and gratitude as I learned about the diversity of village history, culture, and customary practices unique to this region. This experience taught me that Lombok's warmth, spirit, and pride is undeniable.

Because of this, I was devastated to learn about the two recent earthquakes to hit Lombok and the destruction and loss it has caused so many of the families and communities that I worked with. I have seen the way that the community has come together in response to this natural disaster and I feel responsible to provide support in whatever way that I can.

I am using this GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the immediate relief and reconstruction efforts in Lombok. More specifically, these funds will be used to support the people of North Lombok district, where most of the damage from the earthquake occurred. I plan to direct the initial tranche of money to two local NGOs that I partnered with on PMaP6, Santiri Foundation and Puter Indonesia, who are supporting POSKOs (or refugee camps) and know the current needs of the community well. They will use the funds to support emergency response and relief efforts, including building latrines, shelters, and schools and providing basic needs (most importantly food and water but also blankets, medicine, tents, etc.).  This money will be withdrawn by August 17th (Indonesia's Independence Day). Depending on the reconstruction plan led by the government, the remaining money will be used to support reconstruction efforts for a small number of families within the PMaP 6 community or it will continue to be directed toward relief efforts. I plan to withdraw the second tranche of funds in mid September.

Any donation small or large would be incredibly appreciated both by myself as well as the community in Lombok. Please join me as we help Lombok to build back better!

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Charlotte Mack and I live in Jakarta Indonesia. I work in the international development field and from April 2017 to March 2018 I worked with a team in Lombok to help 9 subdistricts delineate, demarcate, and legalize their village boundaries.
