My friends...I am reaching out to each one of you again for the help that is needed in bringing a dream...into a reality.
I have been busy collecting...buying...packing...and...um...soliciting some more!...for donations and supplies for the hospital.
And guess what? I am so excited to share with each one of you that...in addition to the surgical instruments that I sent 3 months ago...the many many medical and surgical supplies that I have packed...(5 duffle bags so far!!!...49.75 lbs each!)...AND in addition to what you see in the photo above....(there needs to be a drum role)...I have acquired a mini c-arm...yes! A mini c-arm!!!!
And it is fully functioning! WAAAAHOOOOO!!!! So...what does this mean? That NO PERSON IN TORORO UGANDA THAT HAS A BROKEN ARM OR LEG OR MAYBE SOMETHING IN BETWEEN...WILL HAVE TO TRAVEL 45 KM AWAY TO GET AN X-RAY!!!!!!!! AND....NOT ONLY WILL IT WILL BELONG TO GIDEON & LILIAN's HOSPITAL....IT CAN BE USED IN SURGERY FOR REPAIRS OF THE BROKEN ARM OR LEG AND...NO ONE CAN COME AND SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE FOR MORE MONEY!!!!
Am I excited? Nah....I'm BEYOND excited!!!!! And I have my friends to thank. You have opened your hearts and helped people you don't know and have never met and you are following God's design for us. That is AWESOME!!!
And now you want to know why I am here again...asking for more?
We need to get these things to Tororo, Uganda! I have spent many hours researching the ways to do this and what makes the most sense right now...and really...the safest way to ensure the supplies get there...is through KLM. They can be packed...wrapped...insured...and placed on a 'combi' plane and sent directly to Uganda. And this is another cool part of all this...I'll be going with it. The 'combi' planes are a combination passenger/cargo plane that fly out of Houston...to Amsterdam and on to Entebbe. So...when the equipment lands...so do I...right with it. This makes me feel good. I love each of you for opening your hearts and helping make this dream a reality for so many. My plan is to go in April, 2014...please...help me make this a reality!!!!

Thank you again.

This machine is so important. This time last year...I was in Uganda...spending a day at Geel Medical with Gideon & lilian. 3 men came up on a boda (tiny motorcycle) they were helping the man sitting in the middle of of the bike. His leg was obviously broken and they had it splinted with cardboard and twine.
Gideon explained that he could not help him...that the closest hospital with x-ray was 90 Km away. 55 miles One way!...so they got back on the bike and left.
Gideon cried. I cried. Thinking how they had to maneuver those dirt roads with all the pot holes...rocks...and crazy traffic.
And the pain this man had to endure. If he even made it there at all.
And then Gideon went back to work...helping those he could.
Gideon explained to me that...they had had an x-ray machine on contract and were making monthly payments...but the owner found a buyer who would pay more money and just took it from them.
That day...that man...that experience...has stayed on my mind ever since. I took advice from my friend Wendy Johnson Berg Stokes and every day...I THINK BIG!...PRAY HARD!...and TAKE ACTION!
God answered my prayers. He brought Diana & me together. She could have made a small fortune selling this to someone else...but that is not what is in her heart and sold it to me. And I thank God for her and for this!
This April...my plan is to take it to Tororo...to Gideon & Lilian's hospital. No one can take this away from them! And in the meantime...I will continue to THINK BIG!...PRAY HARD!...and TAKE ACTION! Because with God at my side...anything is possible. Thank you God...Thank you Jesus for loving me when I wasn't so loveable...blessing me with good and kind people...and clearing my path of all those rocks I kept throwing on it.

I've been researching shipping options for the medical supplies & equipment and so far...a palletized cargo shipment with KLM is the most economical & safest route to ensure it gets there. I have 5 duffle bags stuffed full! I have just acquired a fluoroscan x-ray machine (pinch me!) and some other medical/surgical items. Slowly but surely with God's help & yours...we're going to get this hospital up & running. My plan is to take it there this coming April...and as my friend Wendy (who is there in the photo with me) showed me that if we...Think Big!....Pray Hard...and Take Action!...anything is possible!
