2018 Kenya Mission Trip!

Donation protected
Hi everybody, my name is Maggie Flores. I am raising money for my mission trip this August to Nakuru, Kenya!

Port City Community Church has formed a partnership with a Kenyan pastor in Nakuru, Kenya. God has given pastor Jackson and his wife Mama Helen a vision to reach many of the kids on the streets in Nakuru by educating them and giving them a hope for a future. The number of street children in Nakuru is increasing due to poverty and disease. Many children are left with no one to care for them and have no choice but to turn to the streets. My church has helped Pastor Jackson build a center called Mama Helens Rehabilitation Center to give these children a safe place to learn and grow and ultimately get a glimpse of the gospel. PC3 has the opportunity to send teams over to work with Pastor Jackson on construction projects, hosting congregational or youth conferences, helping with community outreaches, investing in the children of Mama Helens, and encouraging the churches he works alongside.

On this mission, our team will be spending time with the children at Mama Helens to help with Bible studies, small group activities, and games. We will also have the opportunity to help with a community outreach to the poor providing them with food and spiritual encouragement.

I went to Mama Helen's in August of 2016, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I had the opportunity to help co-lead Bible studies for the younger aged children, and it was incredible to see the kids open up during the week and really become interested in what we were teaching. I think the most amazing thing I learned from being with the younger children all week was the simple fact that they were children. No matter where you go on the earth, children are still children. They laugh, giggle, and struggle to sit in one place for too long. Their questions are honest and earnest and make you really think hard. They have an unmatched, innocent, and devoted love for the Lord that makes even the wisest believer question the way they walk with God . It was a breathtaking experience. They humbled me more than I ever thought possible.

By far my most favorite experience during the entire trip was finally meeting my older "brother", Samuel that my family has been sponsoring for the past 10 years.  My mom and older sister got a chance to go to Kenya back in 2010 and meet him.  Two years ago, I had my opportunity of meeting him and getting to know him in person. It was such an incredible experience to meet somebody that our family had been getting to know through letters for years. He was just as silly and funny in person as he was in his letters. I got to hang out and talk to him and it was just the coolest thing to be able to learn about his life and friends and walk with God. I am just ecstatic that I will get to see him and all his friends again this August!!

I am beyond grateful that I am able to go to Nakuru again this August, and I would love to invite you to participate in this mission with me! First, please pray for me and my team. Pray that God will prepare me spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Pray for our safety and that God will be glorified in all we do! Second, you can help by supporting me financially. In order to go on this mission, I must raise $2,000. I will be investing $800 of my own money for this trip and taking time off of my summer jobs. I  would love to invite you to participate with me in helping to support me financially in my trip. The funds supported will be used to cover my expenses, the team's expenses, and other expenses related to this mission.  All expenses include airfare, ground transportation, lodging, meals, and materials used in accomplishing the objectives and goals of this mission.  Without your prayer and support, this trip would not be possible!

Thank you all so much for your support and prayers! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to me!  I have also attached a video link to learn more about my trip and the HOPE 127 project. Thank you!
