Hello,
I am trying to get fertility treatment to have a child. I've researched and saved as much as I can however it's been near impossible to get close to the amount I need. I can't afford to do this by myself.
After looking through each of my options I've decided IVF lite is the most promising as I'm under 35 with a BMI less than 31. As it'll be my first treatment it's also likely to be successful (approx 60% success rate) and was the treatment recommended to me by a fertility doctor.
IVF lite is a milder version of standard IVF as it transfeers only one embryo and I'll need less drug doses. This means there's less chance of a multiple pregnancy and risk of ovarian hyperstimulation (or OHSS). OHSS happens due to the ovaries over-responding to high drug doses. Less drugs equals less risk.
Side effects are reduced as there's no conventional IVF superovulation and also the cost is less too.
All of this helps greatly to make the treatment less stressful and invasive. As someone prone to anxiety it's important for me to keep it to a minimum. Originally I planned to use IUI, despite having a brilliant success rate (19%) where I've chosen is best suited for my treatment it's far less likely to succeed than with IVF lite (approx 60%). Which of course doesn't help me to relax as this might well be my only chance to try.
After visiting fertility clinics and researching I've settled on London Women's Clinic as the best choice. Staff are very passionate and professional plus their success rates are the most impressive. The doctor felt incredibly positive about treating me and they take a far more individual approach which I need due to my circumstances.
I'm in the position where I get to plan having a child and I want to plan as best as I can. This route gives me and the child the option to know the father which includes medical information. I've never been a relationship person, the only reason for me to be in one is to have a child which offers more risks. Also I am not very sexual and there are many dangers with having a child from casual sexual encounters. Not judging anyone in these situations however I want me and the child to have as many options as possible. Fertility treatment is by far the most sensible and realistic choice in my situation.
