Zoey's Medical Fund
My little Chihuahua, Zoey, is really sick. It started with weight loss a few weeks ago. She's only 6 pounds, so any weight loss is alarming with a dog this small. And then about a week ago she started scratching all over her body, and then she started smelling. I thought it was a food problem and maybe she just needed a bath, so I've been adjusting her diet.
But over the last couple days her neck started swelling, and the itching got worse, and I started looking it up online, and it's definitely her thyroid that's really swollen. And all the symptoms seem to fit a serious thyroid problem from what I've read and been told.
I don't normally ask anyone for anything, but Zoey is my life. A while back I injured my neck, lost my job, my house, and my marriage, and I've been trying to recover my health and go back to a normal life. I run a large dog-related Facebook page and we've always posted lots of other people's GoFundMe's, but I never thought it would be me asking for help. I'm at a total loss what to do. I thought I would be back on my feet sooner.
Zoey hasn't seen a vet yet, but I'm including contact information for the last vet I visited for her brother, Ty, which is where I plan on taking her when I can. Right now I have the cone on her and put some anti-fungal cream on her as a friend suggested.
I don't even have enough for the exam, but I know she's really sick, and I know they're going to want to run a whole bunch of tests, based on what a friend who used to used to be a vet tech said. She's my tiny princess, and I'm really scared.

But other than that, she is doing fabulous! Her weight is back up to normal, her dental cleaning (which they had to put her under anesthesia for) went well, and they chipped her while she was under. They tell me it's really painful for a little dog to get chipped, so it worked out well doing it during the cleaning. She got all her vaccination boosters and de-worming, too.
Thanks again to all the family, friends and fans who helped my little princess! I couldn't have done it without help, and with your help she's back to her normal, sassy self. I told the vet to do whatever they thought necessary for her treatment, and the GoFundMe covered almost all of it, so, thank you!!!!!
She's still a little itchy sometimes, but she has another week of special baths and medication. But her coat looks great, the smell is gone, and I can tell she's comfortable most of the time. It's good to see her back to her sassy self. I ordered a high calorie food supplement to help fine tune her weight. Normally the struggle with my little doggos is keeping their weight down, so this is new territory for me.
Her weight is up a little with the new prescription food. I'm still a little worried because I've always been able to keep all my dogs's weight perfect, and all the sudden she started losing weight, even bumping her food up to 1 1/2 times what I give her uncle Smokey, who is 3 times her size. I talked to some really smart people and a vet who messaged me on the FB page, and it could be as simple as Zoey needing more fat than her pack mates. The prescription food is more expensive per pound than steak, so I did my homework and got some nutrition supplements and fish oil for when she goes back to her normal diet, which she and the pack have always thrived on, and other vets have complemented me on. So if her weight loss is just a diet issue and not a medical issue, then she just needs hers adjusted to more fat. We'll see!
She sees the vet net week for her vaccination boosters and to schedule her dental work. I've tried to be really smart about spending the gofundme money, so I put her on a health plan but left it month to month in case they have to do any extractions. Either way she's in good hands thanks to everyone's help! I really don't have the words to express how grateful I am...
