Help Jax Stay Enrolled in Autism School!
HELP
JAXON STAY ENROLLED AT THE EMERALD COAST AUTISM CENTER!
Jaxon
is my little seven year old cousin and he suffers from profound
autism. He is currently receiving therapy at the Emerald Coast Autism
Center and has been for the last two years. He has made AMAZING gains
in that time period, and his therapists love him to bits!
Unfortunately, one of his scholarships was only temporary and it runs
out in April! When his scholarship runs out, he will not be able to
continue his education at the Emerald Coast Autism Center! ECAC is
willing to work with us, but we need to raise $12,000! FAST!
WHY
IS THIS SO IMPORTANT?
The Emerald Coast Autism Center is the
only facility in our area that correctly implements Applied
Behavioral Analysis therapy. This teaching system, known as ABA
therapy, is the only method proven to help autistic children. Autism
is a developmental disability that impairs a person's ability to
understand his or her surroundings. ABA therapy uses a complex system
of repetition and rewards to teach children how to interpret the
world around them and act appropriately. Jaxon has been at the East
Coast Autism Center for two years, and he has made magnificent
strides. He no longer lives in his own little bubble, but would
rather play and interact with his family. A year ago he would have
simply grabbed his dinner off of his plate and run away to eat it.
Now he sits patiently at the table and eats with the family! He gives
hugs and kisses and happily asks to "eat" and "go" and
"spin." His vocabulary is limited to about 15 words, but he has
learned to recognize many diverse objects, people, and places. We can
not adequately express the progress he has made in his years at ECAC.
He is a completely different child than he was two years ago, and
with your help he can continue to grow and thrive!
IF WE CAN NOT RAISE THE FUNDS WE NEED, JAX WILL HAVE TO ATTEND PUBLIC SCHOOL, WHERE HE WILL UNLEARN EVERYTHING HE HAS SPENT TWO YEARS LEARNING!
This is an unfortunate truth of the situation. Jax had to attend public school for a short time a few years ago, and, despite our best efforts, he lost many words, appropriate behaviors, and completely forgot all of his potty training! The public school setting is not a place for a child like Jaxon. He needs active therapy, not just a babysitter! After two years at ECAC, he has finally regained everything he lost and has learned much much more. It would be tragic to push him back into the public school setting.
HOWEVER!
With your help, we can keep Jax in the school he needs to be in! Your donation will help Jaxon live a happier, healthier life! Won't you donate today and help change a little boy's life? I mean really, how can you say no to that face?
