Kick Cancer's Butt with Mary

No one expects to hear the words, "you have cancer".
When it happens, most people probably think about how long they have to live, what their treatments will be and how their family will manage without them. No one should have to worry about how they are going to pay for the doctor or their lab work, much less, how to afford rent and transportation to chemo!
My sister Mary Noga Potunas was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver and biliary cancer recently and has been in really good spirits so far, but her financial situation isn't good. Her pain is being managed well so far, but the financial strain just puts extra stress on her now when she needs to concentrate on kicking cancer's butt.
Mary has always been a loving and giving sister and friend and so many of her friends have been stepping up to help take her to appointments and being a shoulder to lean on, but now she needs a little more help than her close circle of friends and family can provide.
Many of us take some of our everyday luxuries for granted like having a computer, internet service, smart phones, etc., but those are not the luxuries she even has at this time. She needs help to pay her medical bills, lab fees and just to make ends meet since she will not be able to work as much as she has been. She has applied for various subsidies & disability, but that all takes time and only really helps cover basics. Mary is a seamstress by trade and she has been working full time but her job doesn't pay much more than minimum wage. I'll never forget the gorgeous job she did on my wedding dress 25 years ago :)
