Teaching and Living History

When I was in school, I had a professor who came into class each week clothed in the weapons and armor corresponding to the period in history that we were learning about. He had full outfits for Egyptian armor, Greek, Roman, and Medieval garb. It truly inspired me to pursue history and to this day it is something I have never forgotten. As a teacher I spend my own money on my class all the time since we are always experiencing budget cuts and setbacks. It is a delicate balance between providing for my family and my two kids and providing for my students.

Go fund me presents the only chance that I will have to share an experience like this with my students. I have selected garb for our unit on the Crusades, and I truly cannot wait to see the reactions of the students when their teacher walks in as an authentic Templar Knight!
