Post-Transplant Fund for Kristine Johnson Gunsch

In 1996, my sister Kristine was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis, causing her to develop end-stage kidney disease in 1999. In 2001 she was blessed to have received a kidney from her friend Juli, however in October of 2016, her transplanted kidney failed, and she returned to dialysis.
After waiting for almost three years for a donor, on the evening of June 15th, 2019, she got the call that she and her husband, along with the rest of the family had been waiting for from Stanford. On the morning of June 16th, Kristine received her kidney.
The kidney has been a huge blessing, but it has also caused a financial strain for her and her husband, Colby. Kristine will have to go back and forth to Stanford every 2 months for check-ups with the transplant team until she reaches her first anniversary. Many of her outpatient expenses are not fully covered by insurance and has led to large out of pocket costs.
Kristine and I had talked about doing a fundraiser for her future transplant, but Kristine kept putting it off, thinking she would have plenty of time to work on one but never got around to doing it. After her surgery, Kristine decided not to fundraise, believing she and her husband could handle the bills themselves, but they have found that the expenses are just too overwhelming to handle on their own.
Some of the things they could use the money to include the following:
•Medical bills
•Travel Expenses
•Blood work
•Post-op appointments co-pays
•Travel expenses such as lodging, parking, gas, and meals
•Medications
