Zeus' Chemo-Therapy

Zeus is a 1 year old Husky-Mix from Oxnard, CA. A cherished, four-legged memeber of the family.
In the beginning of February we began to notice he had a loss of appetite, lost interest in playing, didnt want to go on walks and even though we would feed him by hand and shower him with lots of love it didnt seem to help. Over the last three weeks, he lost a significant amount of weight to where his hips and ribs were very noticable. He wasn't the same Zeus we have all come to know, playful, all-knowing in his own way and always looking for attention. He was taken to the vet on February 12th, since I am on deployment the vet concluded that he was feeling very down and mentioned it was normal for dogs to feel this way if their owner has been gone. We didnt think much of it but kept a close eye on him over the next two weeks. A few weeks later on February 20, he was taken into the Vet again after seeing no improvement from his loss of appetite and would only eat if fed by hand. After an x-ray and blood was drawn, it was brought to our attention that they had found a lot of fluid in his stomach and his blood count was very low. Upon draining the fluid they discovered that it was blood in his abdomen area. Zeus was taken to VCA Bay Area Emergency Hospital, where another X-ray was taken and found that he had fluid in both the abdomen and chest region. It was recommend that we go through with a Blood Tranfusion to bring his blood count up and begin surgery. At the moment he is staying in the Hospital until he is seen by the Oncologist to determine what specific type of Cancer he has; we want to get a good start on thr chemo-therapy. Since he is very young in his dog years it is concerning that he is battling cancer this early on. At the moment we already have been faced with a big vet bill and i know it will not be the last to come; chemo-therapy in itself is expensive.
If you know Zeus, you know he is full of life and adventurous. He is also my greatest and most cherished companion. From hiking, to running on the beach and being more than i could ever ask for, I want to make sure that he gets the life he deserves to live. I understand the certain circumstances everyone faces but anything you donate will be greatly appreciated, Zeus and I will greatly appreciate it. We have faith that he will make it through and overcome this, thank you for your time and generosity. It will not go un noticed.
