A bit about us
We're two families from Yorkshire (Aimee & Ian, hello!) who are trying to live more sustainable lifestyles. We've found that cutting down on plastics isn’t easy, it’s frustrating trying to go plastic-free when companies will only sell you heavily plastic-packed food.
We're committed to plastic-free shopping for Leeds
Zero waste, package-free shops are starting to open around the UK, it’s the newest old way to shop. A real alternative to the endless packaging of the supermarkets. Bring your own container, pick from a range of organic loose foods, and then weigh & pay. It's simple and affordable, the food you need when you need it.
Change is happening, but it's yet to come to Leeds. We're committed to opening a zero packaging shop in Leeds - but we need your help.
The sad truth
Bisphenol A (BPA) commonly used as a chemical in plastic bottles and packaging, it can cause heart disease and diabetes in humans - why would we want this near our food? Used plastic is killing our sea mammals, our birds and fish, and suffocating our Earth. In 2014 the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) found that 88 percent of the Earth’s ocean surface is polluted with plastic debris.
The most plastic-polluted river in the UK is here in Yorkshire (the River Tame). We've had enough - it's time for change. We want to invest in another type of shopping option in Leeds - a zero waste, zero packaging weigh & pay store.
What can you do?
Well, anything you can donate to us would make a real difference - all the money we raise will be invested in shop fittings, buying stock (from local farmers and suppliers wherever possible of course!) and getting us set up in a central Leeds location.
We don't just need money (Its great but it's not everything) - It's going to take an engaged community of environmentally conscious people to make a real change to how we shop in Yorkshire. If you have a minute please share our GoFundMe page or follow our journey on our social media pages.
