Zero Waste Capital District

Donation protected

Sonia Sandoval, the fearless owner of FoodScraps360, has just turned 26 and needs our help.

Sonia  is devoted to reducing food waste in the Capital District.  She has worked hard, collecting compost from residences and businesses for almost two years.  She kept her fledgling business afloat - barely.  When she turned 26 in October and had to pay her own healthcare bills, she was ready to close the business, much to the dismay of the waste conscious community.  The loss of FoodScraps360 would be especially tough because she is the only business in this area able to accept commercial compostables like cups, bowls, and bio-plastics, which she brings to the Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency in Kingston.  Because of Sonia, organizations and municipalities have been able to have truly "zero waste" events.

Therefore, we are asking people to donate toward a special "birthday present" for Sonia: a donation toward her health insurance so she in turn can keep running FoodScraps360.   Our goal is $1800 and all new monies collected via Zero Waste Capital District at this time will go to Sonia.  She has trained so many of us and brought whole new Zero Waste possibilities to the Capital Region.  Please help us keep Sonia and FoodScraps360 as a local community resource!  Every dollar counts!
