Latest update!
Autumn is back. Man this kid has 9 lives and we are so grateful that she does! From anxty teen, to plane crash survivor, to drug over dose and 3      weeks in a coma, to up and moving around. She still sounds like a stroke patient, but she is slowly coming back to us!! Go Autumn!!

Update to the Personal Crash.
I am sorry to have to share this news with you...
Autumn is now 19...

Today I share some horrible news, Autumn has been having a very hard time coping with the aftermath of the plane crash and the survivor's guilt. She has now had a personal crash of her own. She Overdosed on October 4th and her heart stopped. Thanks to the efforts of her amazing father and the medics, she survived and is in a coma. It has been a week and little has changed. They will transfer her 2 hours away to Seattle for further care and hopefully she will come out of this. We are all devastated. Dave now has to drive 2 hours to see his kid. He has spent all the time he can by her side in the ICU up until now. He needs help to be able to get to Seattle and see her. Gas is super expensive. (And a pipeline blew up in Canada, so the price is going up.) Can you help? Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Autumn Veatch: Plane crash survivor and amazing young woman.

On Saturday July 11, 2015 Autumn and her step grandparents, Lee and Sharon Bowman,  were on a flight from Kalispell Montana to Lynden Washington when the plane they were  in crashed into the wilderness.  Her grandparents were, tragically, killed in the crash.

Autumn walked away from the plane and somehow, amazingly, traveled countless miles through untamed wilderness, through darkness and rain, bugs and scary monsters in the woods (I mean unknown animals). She fell off cliffs, scaled waterfalls and found her way to safety down one of the hardest terrains in Washington State.

She is the strongest most resilient 16 year old that I know. I don't know a single person that could pull off what she has accomplished.

In the crash she lost so much that is important to her. Most importantly she lost her Grandparents. She tells me that they were amazing people that cared for her so much for her in the short time she knew them. The emotional trauma from that alone will take a lot of time to heal, not to mention the toll this all took on her body and spirit with what she had to accomplish.

Autumn is going to need time to heal. Medical bills and counseling are going to be expensive for her father who is on a limited income.
Thank you all so very much for your prayers and your energies and your love and support. We are so grateful for every single one of you!

AUTUMN IS GOING HOME TODAY!!!
David is picking her up at the rehab center today. She has progressed far enough in her treatment to go home! We are all so very happy about this. 2 months and 3 days since the overdose. Now the real road to recovery begins.

Autumn is doing great! The updates I get from her father tell me that they have removed the Tracheotomy, she is talking and her memory is still there. There is some brain damage. Right now she talks like she has had a stroke, and she cannot walk. There is a TON of rehab to do to get her back to herself, but she is alive and still with us. We are so happy. This kid is a fighter. She was not meant to die... Not in the plane crash, and not here either. Her story continues. This is a great example of how our mental health care system is broken. A 16 year old kid has to go through the trauma of a plane crash and watching her step grandparents die, and she still gets no help. The system has failed her. It took her turning to drugs and almost dying before her Doctors listened that there may be a mental health issue and some PTSD and survivors guilt after a trauma like that. Now she will hopefully get the help she needs. We all love Autumn. And we hope she does well going forward. Thank you to everyone already that has been so supportive, and thank you for your continued support during the long road to recovery.

AUTUMN IS AWAKE!!! After 3 weeks in a coma, she has come back to us. We are so very happy!!! Yay!! We still do not have a firm grasp on her brain damage at this time, but we will know more every day. Her Dad is just so happy. He stayed positive through this whole thing that he would not loose her, just like he did the plane crash, and he was right!!!
The long road to recovery and home starts NOW!!!
Thank you everyone for the prayers and healing energies for Autumn.Keep them coming.

Autumn is still in the coma, but there have been small improvements. She can sometimes respond to basic commands, She has wiggled her toes, blinked and nodded her head. She was taken off the ventilator for most of a day and did well until she tired. She is on the mend, but we still do not know the extent of the brain injuries. We continue to be hopeful. One moment at a time and we will see what happens. Thank you for following her story, she means so much to us.

None of us know the financial status of this family and Autumn did not set up this gofundme herself. If you don't want to donate or don't like the way it was writtwn then don't donate and move on to the next. Don't kick them when they're down. This woman put this up to help a friend or reletive through a very traumatic event. I'm sure she is going through a lot too and not getting much sleep so if it is not perfectly written I'm sure that is why. I think Autumn is a very brave young lady and she is probably going to have at least some emotional and mental damage from this. If I can donate and help this girl get some personal belongings to feel a small sense of normalicy again then I want to.

Autumn did AWESOME. So glad for her; so glad she made it out. Not sure what she might have had that it's so important a GoFundMe page is set up for her -- just stuff? If there's a glitch with her insurance, hope that gets worked out soon. My other thoughts are with those that did not survive.

I am Autumns Father. I just wanted to add that we are not rich. I am unemployed due to a back injury. I am literally still paying off the things she lost that are so important to her. At the hospital we found out there was an issue with her insurance and we have had to rely on friends to pay for her meds...bandages and burn ointments. Hopefully this glitch will be fixed. I would normally never ask for help but I am glad my good friend set this up for her. If you dont want to donate that is fine. We wont hold it against you. We are a completely separate family from the Bowmans. They are her Mothers new husbands parents. I personally have never met the family. Lee and Sharon lost their lives bringing my Daughter home after visiting with her Mom. I am absolutely devastated by this and pray their Son and Misty are able to get through this as easily and with as little pain as possible.

I've been following Autumn's story since the horrific plane crash that claimed her grandparents & her amazing journey that followed. I know she's a fighter & this is just a new journey for Autumn. She can & will succeed! Autumn's family & friends are so wonderful & they all love her very much. I hope that this is the spark she needs to start her new journey to wellness.
