It takes a village!

Please, help if you can and please please share. Steve is in the very small percentage of people who has a chance to beat pancreatic cancer. That doesn’t happen very often. For him to loose this battle due to not being able to get his insulin or blood thinners would be more than devastating. Thank you to all who have helped! God bless.

..............
Just sharing a lil update on my stepdad- He has a date set for surgery in February to remove the tumor. Unfortunately due to his deductible renewing as of January 1st he needs well over $1000 to pay for medication that if he doesn’t take would kill him (such as his insulin because his cancer gave him diabetes). Sadly this is our health care system in America. If anybody is will to donate or even share my family is more than appreciative! Also thank you SO much to all of those who have donated so far-It really touches my heart and is appreciated more than you could know!

Update: Thank you to those who helped us reach our original goal of $3000.  We can not express our gratitude enough. We have increased the goal due to my Dad’s medical cost being more than we anticipated. Since his diagnoses last week the cancer has already caused him to become diabetic and insulin dependent. He has to have insulin injections daily.

They are putting him on one of the most aggressive forms of chemo treatment every two weeks. It consists of four different types of chemo along with a lot of other medications and many doctor appointments.

Original Post: Recently my dad, Steve has gotten incredibly weak, losing far too much weight too quickly without knowing why. Now we all know why. He has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He has been through a lot. He survived a stroke almost 4 years ago and came out so strong. But now, he is really in the fight of (and for) his life. Successful treatment for this hard-hitting cancer may save his life, but he most likely won’t regain his strength while fighting this.

We are all still reeling from this diagnosis. Yet even while waiting for final subtype results and a treatment plan, Steve remains so positive and humble. (We will update with subtype and treatment asap).

Steve became my mom’s caretaker when she became very ill 10 years ago with a neuromuscular disease and Lupus.

Not only did he care for her but he has always been there for all of us kids.

Steve became part of my family’s life 18-years ago. He not only loved and devoted himself to my Mom, he took on the whole family and became our Dad. He loved me and my two sisters and brother as if we were his own. His support  for our family did not waver when my mother became so ill. Steve did not miss a beat, helping my mother wade through her own medical journey, while working, shuffling kids from place to place, cooking and doing all of those things that keep a family going.

Now that he needs care, there is so much help that is needed. We are hoping to raise money to help with my parents needs and medical bills for Steve. Health insurance is imperative to have, but you quickly learn where it falls short. He has been sent home from the hospital while we wait for test results. One of the co-pays for his first prescriptions is $300.

He is a loving father and grandfather and has always given himself entirely to his family. Those of you who know him, know that Steve does not just meet people. He meets people and they become friends by the end of the first conversation. He deserves for us to give back to him. If unable to support financially, please be thinking of Steve and our whole family.
