Zara and Baby J are asking for help

The Story
This Fundraiser  is to help JJ and Zara. Please take the time to read this since it is not easy to ask and accept help.

We are going to have baby boy anytime between now and the  time Zara delivers.  The estimated deliver date is  on April 18th. Her actual due date is May 29th. Zara has been diagnosed with  either accreta, increta or percreta. It also affects her bladder.  The doctor is unable to see unless exploratory surgery is done but that will risk both Zara and the baby.  They have decided against this surgery since this is life threatening.

Here is copied and pasted some helpful information for you to read to have an idea of what Zara and Baby 3J is facing.

The difference between placenta accreta, increta or percreta is determined by the severity of the attachment of the placenta to the uterine wall.

Placenta Accreta occurs when the placenta attaches too deep in the uterine wall but it does not penetrate the uterine muscle. Placenta accreta is the most common accounting for approximately 75% of all cases.

Placenta Increta occurs when the placenta attaches even deeper into the uterine wall and does penetrate into the uterine muscle. Placenta increta accounts for approximately 15% of all cases.

Placenta Percreta occurs when the placenta penetrates through the entire uterine wall and attaches to another organ such as the bladder. Placenta percreta is the least common of the three conditions accounting for approximately 5% of all cases.

What are the risks of placenta accreta to the baby?

Premature delivery and subsequent complications are the primary concerns for the baby. Bleeding during the third trimester may be a warning sign that placenta accreta exists, and when placenta accreta occurs it commonly results in a premature delivery.

Your healthcare provider will examine your condition and use medication, bed rest and whatever else necessary to help continue the pregnancy towards full term.

What is the treatment for placenta accreta?

There is nothing a woman can do to prevent placenta accreta, and there is little that can be done for treatment once placenta accreta has been diagnosed. If you have been diagnosed with placenta accreta your healthcare provider will monitor your pregnancy with the intent of scheduling a delivery and using a surgery that may spare the uterus.

Zara’s  Doctor is recommending her  to deliver at OHSU in Portland because there are no known specialists or the expertise/equipment available in our hometown.

Zara’s  insurance is only able to cover part of the lodging, meals, while she’s in Portland. The problem they have is that they needed a bigger space for Zara’s 5 children due to not having a  support system locally.   Zara’s whole family lives  in Colorado and JJ is unfortunately unable to have the support they need on his side of the family.  They are doing this on their own. Zara and her insurance company and Healthcare department have made arrangements for Zara’s children to be close to their mother and will be attending elementary school near OHSU to continue their education. The Children‘s father is able to support in the best way he can but is facing his own unforeseen circumstances. Cody, the father supports Zara’s wishes to have the children near and agrees it is for the best.  He will be able to come up to visit his children and spend time with them when he can. He’s willing to come up once or twice a month and stay with children for a week at a time. Since they are a big family and will have the father and occasionally a friend or a tutor be at the temporary lodgings they picked out that was big enough to support everyone.  They are allotted a certain amount of coverage for a smaller space but are required to pay a difference for the larger place.  These fees add up since the time in Portland is unknown.

Once Zara is  admitted into the hospital  The  insurance has told Zara they will not pay lodging while Zara is in the hospital and Zara and JJ will have to continue paying lodging full price out of  pocket awhile Zara and 3J is in hospital.  It is unknown how long Zara will be hospitalized pending any complications and if 3J is premature with issues.

Additional fees included in our fundraiser amount includes Gas Cost.  Insurance will only able to cover gas from our lodging to doctor appointments.  JJ would need to go back home to check with housesitters and check Zara’s  house to be sure everything is ok.  This will be done while Cody is in town with his kids for the week.  They  don’t have an extra budget for that since it’s 5 hours away and it takes a lot of gas to do that.

They are also are trying to be fair to their house sitter and at least pay them for watching their house and take care of their dogs daily and hope to be able to pay them for their services.

If baby 3J ends up in NICU they will all be qualified to stay in The Ronald McDonald House. This is the best thing for them if this happens because they do cover whole family. They wish they could put them in The Ronald McDonald House in first place but that’s not how it works.   Also, they would never want to wish that 3J would be in the NICU.  The hope is to avoid that.  Hence..if no NICU, they are still required to pay out of pocket for their lodging.

After several calculations they have figured out the estimated total costs and it came out upwards to $6,000  if they were to do this themselves. Zara and JJ are extremely overwhelmed and worried the added stress could cause medical issues or premature birth.  They NEED to be in Portland to avoid this from happening.   This is something they have decided to do and are asking “Please help my family out. Thank you so much!”  Any thing will help and be appreciated.

A side note.  Zara and JJ will be staying in Tigard close to the school and within miles to OHSU.  Ecards to GrubHub/Ubereats/Postmates or gift cards to restaurants will always be graciously accepted since they are feeding a big family.  They are also staying at the Best Western in Tigard/King City, contributions towards the lodgings can also be paid on their behalf.  Best to contact Zara or JJ for hotel info  and the name they are under.
