Zagreb Patriots

The Zagreb Patriots is a football team in Zagreb Croatia. In 2016, we won the Central European Football League (CEFL) by going 5-0. We lost in the Wild Card game.  Now we are playing the CEFL Cup League for the 2017 season. As a team, we are in dire straits and we are not receiving help from the city, county or country of Croatia. The Patriots’ game uniform and gear including helmets, shoulder pads are extremely outdated. I am worried about the players’ health and safety when it comes to equipment. In addition, the funds would be used to pay for our practice facility which we have to rent from the city of Zagreb. We need the funds immediately to finish out our season. Both the head coach and I not only volunteering our time to the team, but we have gotten to the point where we are having to pay for the practice out of our own pockets. Each player is paying around 300 Kuna or $43.00 a month to play. However, this barely covers the road trips to away games and field expenses for home games. As a team, we have to rent the field, purchase water, pay for game officials. Croatia is a growing country in Eastern Europe and similar to other new democracies they are struggling economically. The average monthly salary is a little over 5000 Kuna/ $800.00 and this depends on whether both parents work in the home. Deposable income isn’t a luxury in Croatia. We need help from as many football fans, players and coaches as possible. Your $1.00 donation amounts to 7 Kuna. A $10.00 donation equals 68 Kuna. If you give a $25.00 donation we will send you a team shirt. Currently, we have calculated the cost of new uniforms and team gear and have found an organization who will provide team members with 2 jerseys, playing pants, sweater, sweat pants T-shirt, shorts, hat and bag for $140.00 each. Your donations are greatly needed and will be used to support all team functions.
