Zabrocki family IVF fund

We are Brian and Jessica Zabrocki. We would like to share our story. Setting up this Go Fund Me page was not easy for us as we have always provided for ourselves with little to no help from friends and family. Given our current circumstances and what we are trying to achieve, asking for help is a little easier to do.

We have always wanted to be parents.  We both waited for the right person and the right time to start a family. Our paths crossed seven years ago and married in 2016.  We wanted to get pregnant right away, but Jessica has a genetic brittle bone disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta type one (the mildest form) or O.I for short.  O.I. does not prevent Jessica from successfully carrying a baby; however, there is a 50% chance of passing this disease onto our children which is something that has always weighed on Jessica.

After about a year of deliberating, we decided to put it in God's hands and pray that he will give us a healthy child to raise and love. We tried to conceive for over a year with no luck. Then in November of 2018, the doctors suspected Jessica had complex ovarian cysts. They said since we tried to conceive for over a year with no luck, we were considered, by medical standards, infertile. Surgery was scheduled to remove the cysts.  With this surgery, our doctor was optimistic this would give us a better chance of conceiving. We were optimistic too - we even joked about bringing in the New Year with a pregnancy announcement. How cool would that have been?!

The surgery did not go as planned. The doctor had found Jessica had Stage IV Endometriosis.  The Endometriosis had caused tissue to grow and adhere to most of her organs, and had destroyed both of her fallopian tubes, preventing her from ever conceiving naturally. The doctor said once the Endometriosis is treated, which it is, and given the placement of her left ovary, she would be a great candidate for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)which is a series of procedures used to help with fertility, prevent genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child.

We were sad for a long time, shared many tears and prayed for strength and wisdom.  Ultimately, we believe it was a sign for us to go through IVF so Preimplantation Genetic Embryo screening can be done, which is basically a test on an embryo for the rare genetic mutation Jessica has that causes O.I.

We knew the IVF and Genetic Testing was going to be expensive, but we both want to be parents so it’s more than worth it. Our doctor’s flat fee for the IVF alone is $15,000.00 which does not include medications, egg storage or genetic testing. The genetic testing is $6,400.00 which includes a non-refundable $2,800.00 down payment to start the process.

We have buckled down on our budget and hope to move forward with the IVF next year. We both have a steady income with reliable jobs and want nothing more than to have a baby to add to our family. We are hoping to fund as much as possible ourselves.

So here it is, our plea for help. To our friends and family, the next time you want to send us a holiday card or a gift, we ask that you instead put that money into our Go-Fund-Me page. Every dollar will help us reach our goal. We are not expecting to have the entire procedure funded, but if we can supplement some of the costs, we would be beyond ecstatic and so appreciative of your help to realize our dream.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions, we are an open book!

Thank you!
