Z98 Airport Weather Station

The Ottawa Executive Airport (FAA Identifier -Z98) currently has no weather system installed. Although the nearby airports of Holland/West MI Regional and Grand Rapids GRR has broadcast weather available, the winds at Ottawa Executive can vary significantly from those airports. With the increased amount of flights at the airport it would be very beneficial, and safer, to better know the weather conditions such as wind directions, speed, gusts, and density altitude. The airport budget currently does not have enough to cover the installation of a weather system as significant fuel system upgrades are needed. An evaluation SayWeather system is being installed and we have 60 days to come up with the funds to pay for it. This is a very reasonably priced system which is used at many other airports. Once purchased, the system will be permanently available to the airport community, serving both transient and based aircraft, and is especially helpful to those in flight training. Pilots activate the system by clicking the mic 4 times and the system then reads the current weather. This is not a 'certified' weather system per-se like a traditional AWOS (and it doesn't have to be as it's advisory in nature) but it's tens of thousands of dollars less than an AWOS-type system.
