Chi siamo?
United For Nepal è un progetto iniziato nel 2015, dopo un devastante terremoto che ha devastato l’intero Nepal: migliaia di persone sono morte, 95% degli edifici e 60% delle strutture sanitarie sono
state distrutte, specialmente nella regione Sindhupalchok.
Cosa facciamo?
United for Nepal è nato per fornire un aiuto diretto alle vittime del disastro. Da quel momento in poi, gli obiettivi del progetto sono state aggiornate di anno in anno e valutate per promuovere l’inclusione sociale di gruppi svantaggiati come donne e bambini delle aree rurali.
Prende il via l’edizione 2019 della campagna di raccolta fondi “United for Nepal”, lanciata dagli studenti del corso di laurea magistrale Human Rights and Multi-level Governance dell’Università di Padova. L’obiettivo della campagna di quest’anno è il raggiungimento di 3.000 euro, che verranno stanziati in due scuole in Terai e Sindhupalchok. La prima è la regione più povera del Nepal, la seconda è quella che è stata più colpita dal terremoto del 2015. Specificamente, i soldi raccolti verranno ritirati da uno degli studenti che partecipa al progetto e consegnati direttamente ai nostri contatti locali che li investiranno per il miglioramento delle classi, l’acquisto di materiali educativi e l’estensione della connessione internet.
Nell’edizione 2018, grazie alle donazioni ricevute, United for Nepal ha potuto: i) comprare uniformi per i bambini delle scuole in Terai; ii) fornire tre macchine da cucire alle donne delle aree rurali del Terai; iii) consegnare materiale di cancelleria agli studenti di Sindhupalchok e iv) garantire il budget necessario per l’estensione annuale della connessione internet in Sindhupalchok.
In base alla valutazione ed alla riflessione sui risultati raggiunti da United for Nepal negli anni precedenti, l’iniziativa si è prodigata per aiutare i bambini e le donne nelle aree rurali fornendo materiali di cancelleria ed altri servizi alle scuole, oltre che fondi di microcredito per gruppi di donne
locali. Questo corrisponde agli obiettivi numero 4 “Educazione paritaria e di qualità” e numero 10 “Ridurre le disuguaglianze” degli Obiettivi di Sviluppo Sostenibile delle Nazioni Unite.
I grandi cambiamenti vengono sempre dai piccoli passi, che sono fatti da sempre più persone che
si prendono per mano. Insieme possiamo fare la differenza!

Who are we?
The project began in 2015, after a devastating earthquake in Nepal that ruined an entire country:
thousands of people were killed, 95% of buildings and 60% of health centres were destroyed,
especially in the Sindhupalchok region.
What do we do?
United for Nepal was initiated in order to provide a direct help to the victims of the disaster. From this time onwards, goals of the projects have been annually reviewed and evaluated to promote social inclusion for disadvantaged groups such as women and children in rural areas.
Recently the 2019 edition of the fundraising campaign United for Nepal has been launched by the students of the MA Programme Human Rights and Multi-level Governance of the University of Padova.
The targeted amount of this year’s campaign is 3,000 EUR which will be allocated for two schools in Terai and Sindhupalchok. While the former is the poorest region in Nepal, the latter was struck the most severely by the historic earthquake in 2015. Specifically, the money collected thanks to this fundraising will be withdrawn by a student who participate to the project and it will be delivered to our local contacts in order be spent for the upgrading work of classrooms, the purchase of educational materials, and the extension of the internet connection.
In its 2018 edition, thanks to the donations received, United for Nepal was able to:
i) buy uniforms for children of the schools in Terai; ii) provide three sewing machines to rural women in
Terai; iii) deliver stationery to students in Sindhupalchok; and iv) grant the budget needed for the
annual extension of the internet connection in Sindhupalchok.
Based on the reflection on and the evaluation of United for Nepal’s outcomes from previous
years, the initiative has strived to help children and women in rural areas through providing
educational stationery and facilities to schools as well as microfinance funds to local women groups.
This correspond to Goal 4 “Quality Education” and Goal 10 “Reduced Inequality” of the United
Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Big changes usually come from small steps, which are made by more and more people joining hands together. Together we can make the difference!
