Road to Recovery

On December 28, 2018, they took Juan to the hospital where they found out he had cancer on his left kidney. After about 2 weeks in the hospital and many tests, the doctor confirmed that the best treatment option was to remove the tumor along with the left kidney. During the surgery, they found another cancer mass attached to the colon. In order to remove the mass they had to remove part of his colon. The 4 hour surgery ended up taking 8 hours. Juan continues to fight one step at a time to begin the road to recovery. He is scheduled to be in the hospital another 3-5 days before his road to recovery begins. Once he is sent home, he will begin the first stage of recovery, which will last at least 6 weeks. He will have many follow up doctor visits and could possibly need chemotherapy and or radiation. This process has placed a large financial burden on the family. Juan is the main provider for his family. Both Juan and his wife will be out of work as they continue to battle cancer and work towards his recovery.
