Kids Matter - WMS Walkathon

Whitnall has been known for coming together for the past 10+ years to raise money for people in need. So often we go about our day too quickly, not pausing to realize what other people are going through!
This year on June 1st, our 13th annual Walkathon will be raising money for a very special group called Kids Matter. Being based out of Milwaukee, this one is close to home. Kids Matter works diligently to help kids who have been abused, neglected, or have experienced trauma. These kids are often perceived as invisible in our lives. It's shocking to think, the amount of traumatized children that Kids Matter currently works with would fill a small city! I think we can all agree that no child should have to go through this. And when we do see kids who have gone through it, let's find ways to help them treat, overcome, and enrich their lives!
The funds we raise will be used to not only help these kids find permanent, supportive, and thriving homes, but also to heal in other ways. There are four components to kids matter:
1.) Healing - finding the right resources, people, counselors, and crisis teams to support the children, often navigating through legal systems.
2.) Family Connections - Working with families to overcome problems stemming from insurance, healthcare, school challenges, behavior issues, and Guardianship.
3.) Foster Parenting - Training community members to be CASA volunteers, so they can nurture and strengthen kids' lives.
4.) Hope - Providing everyday items for kids such as clothing, toiletries, books, blankets, formula, diapers, and stuffed animals.
