HELP KEEP THE LANDMINE MUSEUM OPEN
His dream for 30 years, his Landmine Museum, educating Khmers and foreigners, may soon be forced to close
The 'Covid Economy' has impacted Aki Ra's Museum heavily. with our help he has been able to keep basic staff employed caring for the exhibits and the land. Without our help he will be forced to close in a couple of months. If we can help him he can survive until we beat Covid and visitors return.
It only costs $60 a day to keep the staff employed with a minimum salary, feed them and take care of the animals on the farm behind the facility.
It can only stay open with our help.
FOR NEARLY 30 YEARS HE HAS GIVEN EVERYTHING HE HAS TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE
AND NOW HE NEEDS OUR HELP
AKI RA runs the Cambodian Landmine Museum in Siem Reap Cambodia.
* His museum educates visitors about landmines around the world.
* It raises money that has helped build 24 rural schools, very rural schools across Cambodia.
* It has been the home to nearly 100 at-risk children and given them a life and education they never would dream of without his help.
* He started a landmine clearing organization called Cambodian Self Help Demining that has cleared nearly 200 mine fields.
* He’s started 5 bomb squads that deal with all the junk left behind from fighting that lasted nearly 30 years in Cambodia.
Because of Covid there are no tourists in Cambodia. His museum has been closed since March. The money lost would have been used to pay staff, build schools, clear mine fields.
$21,000 will keep his museum open for a year. The money will go to pay the meager staff who can find no jobs now if they are layed off.
Why should we care? We should care because we are all children of this planet, children of God if you prefer.
And as her children - we are brothers and sisters.
None of this is done alone. Every dollar makes a difference, feeds a family or clears a few meter of land.
