I scream U scream School Supplies
Many years ago, when we started our little ice cream truck, we did not know the vision or route it would take.
After working an entire summer and making barely any money, we realized there was more of a need than we knew and it turned into a mission between the kids of Boise and our family.
Our truck drives through many low neighborhoods. In those neighborhoods, we realized that kids did not have money for an ice cream nor did they have shoes on their feet. Having been a school counselor, I put together a huge campaign, asking for donations, to help these children. The people of Boise donated clothing, backpacks, coupons for haircuts, and toys.
Each year, the requests are higher and the amount of kids goes up in number. This year, donations are down. I need enough money to pay the bills on the truck - especially gasoline, which is the most expensive. I have put in a new engine. We have painted the truck. We have a marketing manager to try to get the name out so that people see us. People don't realize the cost of operating. ( Tires, licenses, donations to many great causes, gas, web page, an accountant, a mechanic, insurance, bonding, ice cream, etc) I have the same expenses as any other business - we just seem "tiny".
" Old Betty" is an agent between the mission and the children. We do all that we can at our own expense but cannot operate in the red any longer.
If you cannot help with a dollar, please consider letting me pass along your nicer clothing and supplies. I can always fnd homes for them.
