Hurricane Harvey Back The Blue

In attempt to assist victims of Hurricane Harvey, Officers with the Seymour Police Department in Seymour, IN have "adopted" Sgt. Cody Davis of the Lumberton Police Department in Lumberton, Texas. Sgt. Davis is our brother in blue. Sgt. Davis was working the night Hurricane Harvey hit his town which dumped 57 inches of rain on them over the course of several days. When Sgt. Davis returned home the next morning he realized his own family needed rescuing. Sgt. Davis was able to get his wife, Andrea, and their 2 children Emma, 9, and Cain, 3 as well as their pets out safely. However in doing so their family lost everything they have due to the flooding. Once the rain stopped the only part of their house which was visible was the top 2 feet of the roof line. They lost both vehicles and their house as well as everything in it. Sgt. Davis returned to his house several days later once the water had receded and saw nothing was salvageable. They did not live in any flood plains so they did not have flood insurance. The most they can get from FEMA is $33,000.00. This is helpful but still does not cover the cost of what they had lost let alone the cost to rebuild. They are now currently living in a borrowed camper and have been given clothing and supplies by their local community.
The family’s current need is financial assistance as they have no space for material items donated. The Seymour Police Department has set up a GoFundMe account for Sgt. Davis and his family.
