Yvette's Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Yvette Garcia is a bright and beautiful 23 year old graduate student at Ave Maria University in Ave Maria, Florida. She is from Greensboro, North Carolina and a recent graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Yvette is a devoted follower of Christ, loyal friend to all, and a loving daughter and sister. To know Yvette is to love Yvette.

On April 12th, Yvette started to show symptoms an allergic reaction. It quickly developed into a far more serious condition. She was later diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), a rare, serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes that causes serious burns from the inside out. Only a few hours after her diagnosis, the syndrome had completely overtaken her body and prevented her from breathing on her own.

Since her diagnosis, Yvette has undergone a major skin graft surgery. She is currently on a ventilator surrounded by loved ones, but is just as bright and lively as always. The road to recovery is a long and difficult process, which can take anywhere from several weeks to months. The process is a heavy financial and emotional burden, especially for her sweet parents who are caring for her. Her parents have been by her bedside and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Being over 800 miles away from home and work, we are raising funds to help her family during this difficult time while they care for her in Miami, FL. The funds raised in this Go Fund Me campaign will be deposited into her mother's account who will graciously oversee her care and recovery expenses, Maria C Garcia. The illness of a loved one can be emotionally draining but with your support, we can show her family and loved ones that they are not alone through prayers, thoughts, and donations of any amount.

Yvette’s radiant personality and resilient nature makes her capable of overcoming any challenge, even those as rare as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome.
