Support sweet Harmony
Please send love and donations to this amazing 7 yr old little girl and her family. My best friends Keri and Paul just learned that thier seven-year-old daughter, Harmony has been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a childhood cancer that manifested as tumor in her mouth.
Her symptoms came suddenly and they are still figuring out next steps.
The next year or so will have its financial burdens that come along with care taking a child with cancer.
For those of you who don't know Paul and Keri, they are most amazing, kindhearted, spirited people (and parents) you'll ever meet.
They are a family of four. Eleri, 12 years old is smart, kind and a very talented writer. Harmony is charismatic, fun and artist as well,
Keri has been running her own jewelry business for over 20 years , mer*made Jewelry, which will most likely need to go on hold for the next 10 months to a year. Paul signed two-book deal with HarperCollins this past summer and will need to put his efforts outside of the hospital into his writing responsibility. His day job may have to take a backseat.
Many people have asked if there is anything they can do to help. I am setting up a Go Fund Me page and asking that friends help support this wonderful family during this difficult time. All donations will be very appreciated. No amount is too small. If you are not in a position to donate, please say a prayer or send a positive, healing thought. Thank You!
Solace for the Grieving
In Harmony’s last days, I searched the internet for evidence which would conflict with the evidence I saw before me, for some reason to hope that Harmony would stay with us. I am a man without a belief system, yet I would describe myself chiefly as someone whose job is not to profess knowledge of things beyond my knowing. The prospect of Harmony ceasing to exist might tempt me to choose to believe things beyond my knowing, but instead, i am consoled by the evidence Harmony laid before us in her final days.
Eleven days before passing, she told Keri that she would not forget her, and said “I’ll be fine.” Three days before passing she awoke and pronounced “this isn’t real.” In her last few minutes, Keri and Eleri and I holding her and telling her how much we love her, how proud we are of her, I told her we’d prefer it if she stayed but understood if she needed to go. Harmony understood exactly what was happening to her— in spite of her eyes being sealed by tumor, she was lucid, her last words being “ew!” when I noisily kissed her forehead, responding with dramatically raised eyebrows to our expressions of love, my telling her that beneath the cancer she was still beautiful, that she inspired so many people. She knew what was happening to her, but showed not a particle of fear, unless you would call squeezing our hands tightly evidence of that, but I think that was instead her giving us her love and strength. She did not let go of life quietly, at least not until we had the chance of telling her everything we wanted her to know: we love you so much, we’re so proud of you, you’ll always be with us. And she told us everything she needed to tell us: I’ll be fine, I won’t forget you, this isn’t real, and I’m not afraid. That is what could be observed. Make of it what you will.
Scariest times for us in regard to Harmony. Under the effects of powerful pain medicine and the side effects of Nivolumab, It’s hard to get more than a glimpse of the girl we love. In 7 hours with her today, she was never what I would call lucid. We truly need a miracle. I don’t want to have to say goodbye to this girl. ANC was down from 366 to 336, though ALC was up from 182 to 220. T cells, show us what you’ve got. Nivolumab, show us what you’re capable of. The species needs this girl. Come on, Harmony. Stay with us if you can.
Harmony needs her ANC to keep going up, and she needs to be one of the lucky ones who responds to Nivolumab to survive. This afternoon I asked her if she’d like me to read Harry Potter to her and she said she’d rather read it herself. She’s got spirit, she’s got fight, she’s got heart. She needs the treatment to work. Hoping for ANC and ALC to triple tomorrow, bringing more T cells to the fight. I love you, my brave girl.
@Conner It isn't reliable, sorry, but that company/author has been claiming that the government will shut down their work, so they on purposeful print only a few copies so the book is expensive. Basically a scam. Three things can be done to help, praying, donating money, and sharing this post.
I found this video. Not sure if it is accurate. But I would encourage watching it either follow the link https://youtu.be/2O5PEdX39Q8 or search up A German Scientist Performing Cancer Research Made an Incredible Discovery In 1994
So sorry to hear that it wasn't just her new tooth coming in. I'm sending out prayers and positive energy into the universe for healing and complete recovery for our Harmony. Love and peace to your family this holiday season.
I'm not in a position to donate but I will definitely share this!
To encourage Harmony's Comic creations... check this out if you don't already know about it: https://www.youtube.com/user/ArtforKidsHub. Also GoNoodle is a great site /app if she has the energy for it.
Is there any way I can get a gift to Harmony? I know her immune system is compromised right now, but I have a little something for her:-) Please let me know, thanks!
We continue to be amazed at the generosity of people. The funds, the meals, the assistance, the gifts, the expressions of love-- when we first heard the "c" word, we knew that we would have to come together as a family, and make sure we all ate healthy, rested, got exercise and picked each other up when one of us was down. We had no idea the extent to which this would be done for us by hundreds and hundreds of people. It's been a great wave of love that has lifted us. We didn't know how fortunate we were until this happened. Thank you all so much!
