Theft at Fairness West Virginia

Donation protected

Sometimes bad things happen to good organizations.

On Sept. 27, about $1,200 worth of equipment was stolen from a Fairness West Virginia staff member’s car at our downtown Charleston office. A lot of important work was lost, but we have filed a report with the Charleston Police Department, and are actively scanning pawnshops around the area. We're holding out hope that at least some of our equipment and files can be found.

We want to be clear that this equipment was used for communications puposes only. No sensitive or confidential information was compromised.

In the meantime, the fight for LGBTQ equality in the Mountain State must go on and we need your help now more than ever to make sure it does. We’re a small organization with limited resources, but we know our most valuable resources are our supporters. We’re hoping you can help us out.

Help us make West Virginia a safer place for the LGBTQ community today by donating to our equipment drive. If the equipment is found, we will reinvest this money into computer and office equipment for our new staff member who will be joining us this fall.

Please keep in mind that these donations aren't tax-deductible.

Thanks so much to all of you for reading and considering our campaign.

Yours in Fairness,
The Fairness West Virginia Staff
