Kathy Smith family financial needs
My name is Kathy Smith, I'm a 44 year old single mother of 3. On May 6, 2015 I felt a large lump and a swollen lymphnoid on my right breast. On May 26, 2015 I went to have an exam and they ordered a mammogram and ultrasound for May 29, 2015. The next step was a biopsy which was on June 2, 2015. I received my biopsy results on June 4, 2015 with the diagnosis of Stage 3 triple negative breast cancer and traces in nodules. The next day I met with my surgeon for the first time, Dr. Michael Burrell, he explained to me my options for treatment. On June 7, 2015, I had a PETScan and June 8, 2015 my chemo port was installed. On June 17, 2015 I had an Echo gram. Then June 23, 2015 I had my staples removed and my first chemo session.
I just had my third chemo session Tuesday, July 20, 2015. I am not able to work at this point in my chemo, and I am living with my Mother and Step-Father who are both on fixed incomes. My children have all moved in with me, and I have no source of income at this time.
I am the primary support for my family. and I am accumulating Medical Bills that are not covered by my insurance 100%.
I have worked at the Youth Opportunity Center for 15 years, and right now I am unable to return to work. I have worked most of my adult life in Juvenile Services and I love my job. I believe the hardest thing about my breast cancer diagnosis is I've completely lost my independence.
I trust in God and I know I will make it, I just need help along the way.
Thank You
Kathy Smith
