"For The Love Of the Game" - Help Me Raise Funds to Replace the Basketball Goals at the Monrovia YMCA, Liberia.
My name is Nurminee Walker, a Liberian. I grew up playing basketball at the local YMCA is Monrovia, Liberia. My recent visit to Monrovia was very disappointing to say the least. Like many things in Monrovia, the local YMCA is falling apart, most especially the basketball gym where i played as a kid. Like they say, we are all a kid from some place. I'm just a kid from Liberia trying to give hope to many kids who love the game of basketball like i do.
Hopefully, once this money is raised, we can replace both basketball goals at the Monrovia YMCA. I'm asking you to give because this effort will change the lives of so many kids. The Monrovia YMCA helped shape my life. It was a place of refuge for me and so many kids. I met some of the best human beings you could ever meet in your life-time at the YMCA - coaches, cooks, nurses, etc. I made life-time friends at the YMCA. This place is special to me and this is one of many ways i can say thank you. This is me giving back to a community that have done a lot for me. This is me drawing some attention to the plight of hundreds of kids whose lives may be saved or changed for the better by making the Monrovia YMCA a better place.
