Overcoming Homelessness

From Crisis to Self-Sufficiency...
Homelessness is not a cause of crisis, but the result of crisis. Individuals and families find themselves in a homeless crisis from domestic violence, tragic illness, loss of employment, foreclosure and eviction. Many times they are seen as simply an eyesore, or assumed to be lazy, and unwilling to give up an addiction or to work.
This is is an unfair judgement. Every human being has value and deserves the dignity of a hand up.
The Good Shepherd Alliance provides a goal-oriented intensive case management prrogam that is a requirement of their Housing Program which is built around addressing each families barriers.
Life skills such as Financial Management, budgeting, debt management, parenting, mental health, stress management, childcare, transportation, healthcare, employment and affordable housing are all addressed with goals and an action plan.
However, the government believes this is not a best practice. Without additional funding, we will not survive.
The Good Shepherd Alliance gave up all government funding in 2015 knowing the Self-Sufficiency program’s success rate of 70%-94% was worth the extra fundraising effort.
But we desperately need you! Please help us with a financial gift so we can not only serve hundreds of individuals facing homelessness each year, but continue advocating to our Federal government for Housing Policy change.
