LGBTQ Youth Cornwall is the organisation that runs YAY! (Young and Yourself!)
We are the youth group for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Questioning young people up to the age of 25 who live, work or who are visiting, at school or college in Cornwall
YAY! is funded through donations and grants, currently we have a small grant from Children in Need to provide the youth group service and a small grant from the Department for Education to work with schools.
Inveitably the grants are not enough to pay for the whole service and we have some great volunteers who donate thier time to run the organisation and deliver training sessions that the group gets paid for and as much of this money as possible goes back into the youth group.
It costs us around £1000 a month to provide the youth group this includes renting our own youth group premises in Truro and other venues across Cornwall, paying staff wages, electricity, insurance, internet, resources for sessions and travel costs for young people to get to the youth centre from across Cornwall.
