Tragedy: Young Girl's Mom passes

Our friend's daughter just passed away and she has taken on the responsibility of raising her granddaughter who's moved from another country. Unfortunately at the worst possible time for them she became solely financially responsible. This was unexpected and she was not prepared and suddenly, must do this on her own. Her granddaughter is really happy at her school plus putting in some volunteer time in exchange for extra curricular activities but they really could use some seed money.  Our friend has always been modest with money, buying things on sale and happily taking clothing donations from friends etc and what I'm trying to express is that she's not irresponsible but had been restructuring her own life over the past couple of years after some big life changes. Some of us can identify, others are thankful enough not to know what that's like. Any little bit would be helpful. I can tell you that she will raise her granddaughter with so much love and what's most important is to give her granddaughter some security so she can stop worrying about adult things and enjoy being a kid for a few more years. Unfortunately her granddaughter could not take much with her when she moved and therefore has few personal possessions therefore the donations will be spent on clothes, furniture, food etc. Generally I'm reaching out to "Grandma's friends" that may not know how much she needs them right now but if you are a stranger with a giving heart then Thankyou, Thankyou for helping us help our friend.
At this time they have remained anonymous for the benefit of her granddaughter who has just made this big move and is now starting to fit in and make friends at a new school while grieving the loss of her mother...we felt at this sensitive time her privacy was important.
