Competing at The World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland has been my dream since I was 5 years old when I started learning the snare drum. I have now been playing for 9 years, I am 14 years old.
This year I left my family and friends from my hometown of Beechworth, North East Victoria Australia and moved to Christchurch New Zealand to go to school and develop my drumming with world standard tutors.
I am very lucky to have received a partial scholarship from my new school, St. Andrews College, where I am a boarder and will attend school for the next 4 years.
I started playing the drum when I was in The Scots School Albury grade 4 pipe band. I am now a snare drummer with the St. Andrews College grade 2 pipe band (World Champions 2013).
I am incredibly honored and happy to be selected by the schools Pipe Band Director, Richard Hawke and Drumming Director, James Laughlin to join the band at this year's World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow August 2018.
Getting to Scotland is very expensive for my family and I am wondering if you would help me get there. Any donation would be appreciated as I really hope to get to this competition.
You might also spot me busking on a corner, in Beechworth. This is another way I am trying to raise funds for this amazing experience.
Just recently, in October 2017, I became the Australian National and ACT State Solo Snare Drumming Champion, in C Grade. I’m very proud to be a Aussie Champion, it is an honour.
Thank you for considering my appeal. I really hope I can gather the funds and get to Scotland, it would be the biggest and most incredible opportunity to compete on the world stage and further my knowledge and skills.
