This is Brad Fewson story

All medical evidence is leading to Brad having a Traumatic Brain injury (TBI).

35 year old Brad had everything a guy could want, a beautiful loving wife (Laura Cheney) of 14 years, 2 awesome little boys (CJ & Jack) who adore him, good health, his own Gym & Crossfit box where he could pass on his passion for healthy lifestyle & fitness to whoever wanted to listen and where he could and did make a difference in  peoples lives.

His whole life Brad had been committed to serving his county and his community. He was only 13 when he joined the Army Cadets, from there he went on to serve his country in the Australia Defense Force and the NSW Police Force as well as for the USA government as a Private Military Contractor while still being a Reservist for the Australian Defense Force

Even though owning his own business was at times a bit of a struggle he never lost his focus, with Laura by his side he knew they would make it and was looking at maybe expanding the business into other locations.

Then on the 1st June 2014 he collapsed for no apparent reason and 6 months  later had deteriorated so fast that he has had to completely give up work and have a 24 hour carer. His symptons of a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) have been debilitating and constantly varied. No sooner would we get a bit of control over something then another more dreadful symptom would appear.

2 weeks after the initial collapse Brad & Laura were advised that they were having a baby. Little George was born March 2015 and along with their other 2 sons are a  shining beacon of light in their lives. Laura has had to give up work to be able to care for Brad full time as he can’t be left alone as he now  suffers numerous collapses and seizuers everyday. I could go on and  describe all his other symptons but there isn’t any real need except to say it is very debilitating for him. This has been very difficult for Brad emotionally & mentally to except that he now needs constant care. He was and still is a very proud man that has always looked after others.

Brads TBI has occurred by being caught in numerous  bomb blasts and explosions while he had been overseas. We were so grateful that he had survived these attacks with out being too "physically hurt", although he did lose his mates instead and he had to deal with that. But instead this insidious disease had been creeping up on him this whole time.

They are now discovering the damage that these blasts have caused tothese men & women years down the track. Unfortunately Australia is a long way behind America with their studies & treatments for these TBI’s that are caused in combat. We have just about exhausted all the medical avenues here in Australia and the only course of action that seems to be left for Brad to have any hope of treatment is to go to America. There is a place called the National Intrepid Centre of Excellence which is the leader in advancing traumatic brain injury and psychological health treatment, research and education that focus’s solely on these type of injuries caused through combat. We are praying that they can treat Brad and give him even a little bit better of quality of life and stop the decline.

Brad, Laura, CJ, Jack & little George  have all struggled through the last 12 months. They have not only suffered emotionally but also financially as well. Brad has had to have extensive investigative testing and have had to travel constantly to major cities for this so the financial strain has been immense.

I am Laura’s mum and both Brad & Laura have a large family support network that are with them every step of the way but we can’t help them where they need it most at the moment.  And that is financially so they can keep their heads above water and also get Brad to America.

We are asking for help to raise money to help him get to America if that is where he needs to be and help  ease his financial stress to allow  Brad to put all his efforts into  fighting  this silent debilitating disease that is attacking the people that have risked their lives for their country.
Brad is formost a soldier and if we can give him a chance he will keep fighting because for him giving up is not an option.
