                        SERVICES
DescriptionIn 2013 (Eyecare Services) began our programs that provid
e vision care services. Our vision screenings are performed by a licensed optometrist, assisted by volunteers at each screening. We provide new fitted reading glasses and frames that have been donated or purchased. Persons particpating in vision screening that require  further care, are referred for full exams and specialty services by one of our partners or a member of our network of private medical practitioners.

For every screening we perform the following activities:
(a) Arrange for medical personnel and medical equipment.
(b) Arrange for Government health departments, universities, hospitals, or private physicians. These often agree to perform free or low cost public screenings.
(c) Obtain legal clearance/permits from local authorities.  We will adhere
at all times to the appropriate healthcare laws and regulations for the jurisdiction where we are conducting vision screenings.
(d) Select a date for the screening.  We will attempt to schedule a date that will not conflict with other community events, if possible.
(e) Secure a location for the screening.  Schools, libraries, houses of worship, community centers or homes for the elderly are among possible locations.
(f) Provide advance publicity.  We will use social media and other communicati
on channels to notify the public about the date and location of the screening.
(g) Stay in touch with community partners.            (h) Communication will be maintained with the manager of screening location, volunteers, local medical professionals, etc.
(i) Send letters of appreciation to persons involved in the screening.  This includes partners who provided funding, healthcare professionals who donated time, community centers that provided a venue and medical companies or local healthcare providers that donated equipment and supplies.
( j ) Provide publicity after your screening.  We will let our community kno
w about the details of our event, including the number of persons who benefited from the free public screening.  Social media will be utilized to highlight our event and issue a press release or other community announcement.

EyeCare Services has developed procedures to refer participants whose screening results may indicate the possibility of vision or eye health problems.  These participants receive further medical evaluation from local eye care professionals. Clients who attend our screening event
s receive literature about the Vision and Literacy Initiative and information from our ophthalmological professional organization partners.

A vision screening is done to separate those with and without possible vision problems.  Vision screening results may indicate a potential need for further assessment.  We partner with eye care professionals to carry out joint s
creening events.
A vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor.
