Yellow Horse is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit program, founded in 2014. Yellow Horse’s mission is to facilitate social, emotional and behavioral growth and learning to children, adults, families and the community through the unique attributes of the horse. We guide our participants to develop a natural rapport with the horse through observation, communication, and patience. In the process, participants learn self-awareness, self control and the importance of teamwork.
Our program is driven by the desire to help participants of any ability level build skills, gain confidence and communicate more effectively, among many other benefits. To do this, we offer hands-on experience, guided educational sessions and opportunities for quality interactions with the horse. Our programs include early intervention (ages 12 months to 6) youth and teens, women groups, community service, volunteer opportunities and private and team assisted therapy sessions, which include therapeutic riding and equine assisted psychotherapy. Our community outreach program, H.E.A.R.T. (Horses, Education and Relationship Therapy), involves bringing mini horses to nursing homes, group homes and into the community to provide education and equine therapy.
We are currently working with the VA Hospital to become a community provider so we can start assisting veterans who are enrolled in their PTSD program. We recently invited eight veterans to our farm for an introductory seminar, which was tremendously successful. We already have a relationship with the hospital’s “Giving Back” program, in which veterans volunteer their time to help our program in so many different ways.
The majority of our revenue is subsidized; because of this we depend on donors and sponsorships to help support our program. Your donation will help our participants overcome obstacles, build essential skills and experience life changing breakthroughs. Every dollar makes a difference and all donations are tax deductible.
