Most recognize the Skipjack as the Maryland State Boat, but few realize that is represents the last commercial sail powered fishing fleet in North America and the only cohesive sailing fleet in the western hemisphere.
A multitude of passionate volunteers are working to preserve the Skipjack Heritage in Deal Island, Maryland through providing education and hands-on experiences to the public.
To breathe life back into these vessels of our living history take many hands. And funds. 100% of all money raised will be contributed directly to the restoration of the fleet of skipjacks in Deal Island. Each member of the fleet will not be merely restored as an artifact, but as a living, breathing, WORKING piece of history that anyone can experience!
