Mackenzie's Trip to Lesotho!

I have been given the incredible opportunity to travel with a group of fellow Wittenberg students to the mountain kingdom of Lesotho this December! We will be led on the trip by a Wittenberg professor and his family. They have taken a group of Wittenberg students almost once a year for the past 10 or so years! The professor is a former peace corps volunteer that served in Lesotho and his been there many times since. He has a deep love and appreciation for the country and it's people and I respect him greatly.
Lesotho is a landlocked country within South Africa. It has one of the highest rates of HIV/AIDS in the entire world, with about 1 in 4 adults being infected. This is a significant development issue for the country, as it renders much of the viable adults in the society unable to work or care for young children. This is just one of the large issues that affect Lesotho, as with many other African nations, they have had to try and develop their country in a fast growing modern world, with scars of colonization and western presence still very much healing.
On this three week trip, I and other Wittenberg students will be focused on service for the majority of our time there. This will include building playgrounds, and doing repairs for orphan headed households and orphanges, among other projects. We also will be experiencing the culture and people of this beautiful country as we help earnestly in the best way we can, in a way respectful to their culture and way of life.
I would appreciate any donation, big and small, to help me make it to Lesotho and be able to use the gifts and privileges I have to serve others.
