Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
On November 10, these words rang true for our family; "There is an abnormal mass in your daughters foot and you need to see an orthopedic oncologist as soon as possible." The words "daughter" and "oncologist" are two words you never want to hear in the same sentence. Pathology has been completed and it is confirmed that our daughter, Dylan, has Ewing's Sarcoma in her right heel. We have met with Dr. Rainusso at Texas Children's to discuss the plan to cure our precious baby.
Dylan began chemotherapy last week, and this will last approximately 12 weeks. This will be inpatient treatment at Texas Children's Hospital every other week. The first treatment will be a hospital stay in week one, and a 5 night hospital stay in week 3....then repeated 5 more times. At the conclusion of this initial treatment we decide on a "localized treatment"....either foot surgery or radiation, depending on how Dylan’s body responds to the chemotherapy. Whatever is decided at this point, chemotherapy will begin again for a few more months.
God has blessed us with this beautiful daughter and wonderful family, and it is God who will keep our faith strong, through perseverance and hope as we overcome this challenge. As we incur unforeseen medical expenses, we are grateful and feel showered with love and support. We truly appreciate the thoughtful donations to the children's Go Fund Me account that has been set up in Dylan’s honor.
As we fight this battle we know God has us all in the palm of His hands, carefully monitoring every step. We know God has great plans for our family and we look forward to fulfilling them with his divine guidance.
