Helping Rohingya Families

Often we find ourselves feeling angry, tense, powerless, hopeless, and anxious by the atrocities, violence and abuse towards Rohingya people in Myanmar. For decades they have been systematically persecuted with horrific torture, rape and abduction of men, women and children at the hands of Myanmar security forces and outrageous angry mob.

Often facing rejection from neighbouring countries, Rohingya has no place to go; perpetuating diasporic problem even worst than the Palestinian conflict that has resulted in violent turmoils in that region since 1940s.

The ethnic cleansing (politically correct word for genocide  ) of Rohingyan has gone beyond just regional issues. While it is easy to use "moral" criteria as a screen to justify exclusions which are basically "ethnic" - that is, racial, religious or linguistic markers, Myanmar is a textbook example of how patriotism is ethnically-defined, and people of the wrong ethnic origin are brutally targeted. These "moral" discriminations are often unjustified in terms of the ethic of democracy, and reflect various forms of prejudice and racial conflits across the globe.

Human rights, compassion and emphaty should extend far beyond, without exclusion on grounds of gender, property, origin, ethnic and religon. And I seriously could never understand those who can’t care about things mainly because they don’t have to. People say “ignorance is bliss”, and they are right, but they aren’t right. We could let all of these austerities leave us hopeless, or we could try to educate, and inspire others so that they too can help.

I traveled to a refugee camp near Myanmar border to provide necessary supports early October 2017 . I am planning to go back in November 2017. It is true that we can't do much to change the world by ourselves but every single help would make a difference..
