Help me go to the Yale Norfolk School of Art

My name is Xavier and I am born in Quebec City, Canada. I am currently studying in Studio Art at Concordia University in Montreal, where I was admitted with a highly competitive entrance scholarship.

Recently, I was admitted to the 2019 session of the Yale Norfolk School of Art. This event will take place in the Ellen Battel Stoeckel Estate in Norfolk, Connecticut from May 19 to June 29 (six weeks). This invitation follows an extremely competitive review of students nominated by academic leadership at colleges and universities in the United States and internationally. Although my faculty has nominated me, my institution can not provide me money for the attendance fee, travel expenses and materials. 

The attendance fees are $ 2800  (CAD)
I must provide at least $ 1200 (CAD) more for equipment and travel expenses.

This unique and once in a life-time experience will allow me learn under the supervision of internationally renowned artists such as Byron Kim and Lisa Sigal. I will also work among the best art students in the world. I am and will be extremely grateful to all those who will support me in the realization of this experience.

Je m'appelle Xavier et je suis né à Québec, Canada. J'étudie actuellement en Studio Art à l'Université Concordia (Montréal), où j'ai été admis avec une bourse d'entrée très compétitive.

Récemment, j'ai été admis à la session de 2019 de la Yale Norfolk School of Art. Cet événement aura lieu dans le domaine Ellen Battel Stoeckel à Norfolk, dans le Connecticut, du 19 mai au 29 juin (six semaines). Cette invitation fait suite à un examen extrêmement compétitif d’étudiants nommés par des professeurs et responsables d’universités aux États-Unis et dans le monde. Bien que ma faculté me nomme, mon établissement ne peut pas me verser d’argent pour les frais d'inscription, de voyage et de matériel.

Les frais de d'inscription sont de 2800 $
Je dois fournir au moins 1200 $ pour l’équipement et les frais de déplacement.

Cette expérience unique me permettra d'apprendre sous la supervision d'artistes de renommée internationale tels que Byron Kim et Lisa Sigal. Je vais aussi travailler parmi les meilleurs étudiants en art. Je suis et serai extrêmement reconnaissant à tous ceux qui me soutiendront dans la réalisation de cette expérience.

About my art practice :

My practice is multidisciplinary spanning multiple mediums including kinetic works, drawings, paintings and sculptures. My body of work focuses mainly on ecology and questions the binary between object and subject. Favoring the use of discarded objects, I want to overcome this divide by giving discarded objects an organic life. I have been one of the artists in residence at the Concordia University's Creative Reuse Center (CUCCR). My work has also been exhibited in juried exhibitions throughout Quebec City and Montreal including VAV Gallery and the Darling Foundry.

Ma pratique est multidisciplinaire et comprend des œuvres cinétiques, du dessin, de la peinture et des sculptures. Mon travail porte principalement sur l'écologie et interroge la dichotomie entre objet et sujet. Privilégiant l'utilisation d'objets recyclés, je souhaite surmonter cette dichotomie en donnant une vie organique aux objets recyclés. Récemment, j'ai été l'un des artistes en résidence au Concordia University's Creative Reuse Center (CUCCR). Mon travail a également été exposé dans des expositions avec jury à Québec et à Montréal, notamment à la galerie VAV et à la fonderie Darling.
