The Reddit community of Oilers fans (more than 4300 strong and growing) is proud to give back to #OilCountry with the #YakCharity drive!
Rally your own team, fan group, family and friends to support the #YakCharity too!
During the 2015/16 NHL season #YakCharity will raise funds for youth in crisis and experiencing homelessness in Edmonton. Reddit community members will be pledging and donating funds to Youth Empowerment & Support Services throughout the season based on the goals, points and wins that Nail Yakupov and the Oilers achieve. Some may pledge a toonie for every goal Yakupov makes, others may pledge $20 for every Oil win. It's up to you!
This initiative was inspired by Nail Yakupov's kindness and generosity towards the homeless and less fortunate. It started as something a few users of the Reddit community did individually last season, and after some discussion decided it would be better to step it up this year and organize a formal campaign!
We hope you'll join us and help make a difference in the lives of Oil Country's most vulnerable.
