For the past 2 years my sister and her 3 children has been trapped in a very abusive relationship about 1,000 miles from home. For most that know my family and myself, I traveled to Homerville, GA in September before Hurricane Irma hit to be with my sister and her 3 children. I made the choice to go with hopes of bringing the 4 of them home and back to New York with me. Those hopes were short lived when my brother-in-law went on a Meth bing and proceeded to attempt to intimidate me.

My soon to be ex-brother in-law has made my sister a prisoner as well as strip her of any and all belongings they had to support his Meth habit. She has not had a cell phone in almost a year and I had to set up an internet account with Windstream just so she could dial 911 and keep my parents and myself updated. We have sent money down, which he has stoen, and he has overdrawn their bank account to support his drug habit.

When I arrived in Georgia my sister was living in a house with no power, water, or a vehicle. We managed through the hurricane all week as my brother-in-law became increasingly violent. The night before I was set to come back to New York I found my sister covered in old bruises. When I confronted my brother-in-law about these bruises I was told to mind my own business, which for those of you that know me, know that my family has always been my #1 priority.... and it is safe to say I made it my business. At this point I got the local police and sheriffs department involved who started an investigation into my brother-in-law. Georgia family law is very different that New York state and my sister was not allowed to remove the children until the investigation and proper court proceedings were handled. That investigation took a turn last week for the GOOD when my sister was granted an emergency restraining order as well as temporary custody of their children. We go back to court on April 3rd, 2018 when the judge will order a full year as well as sole custody of all the minor children. This has been the news we have waited for! I have begun making arrangements to travel back to Georgia to pack them all up and bring them home!

I am trying to raise enough money to complete this move on 1 trip the first week of April as soon as the court hearing is completed. 3 children ( 2 toddlers included) and an entire house of their belongings need to be relocated to New York. We are hoping to raise enough money to be able to afford to rent a 26ft U-Haul, gas and tolls to get them back to New York! Her housing has been taken care of till September of this year, but any additional donations of clothes (which you can private message me for sizes), groceries when she gets her and possible start raising some funs to be able to get her into a vehicle so that she work and transport her children, as well as misc. household items for her to start over new. With hopes of maintaining residency in New York state with the children we are hoping that we will be able to go through NYS Family court to amend the proper paperwork.

Having seen first hand the devastation drugs can do to a family and the lengths addicts will go through to support their habit...... time is of the essence to bring them home. Having been witness to what my sister and my nieces and nephew have had to endure I am pleading with each and everyone of you to lend a hand in anyway you can.  I attempted to get my brother-in-law the help he needed. Unfortunately you cannot help those that choose not to help themselves. I am scared nightly for my 12, 4 and 2 year old nieces and nephew as well as my sister. As we are all aware a restraining order is just a piece of paper. I have much gratitude to the police officers that are protecting my sister and her family each day.

Please help me get them home and back into a stable environment so that they can start a new life and not be living in fear of each day as to when/where they will be able to shower, if he is coming back, having no heat and how she will be able to afford the basic necessities such as diapers, wipes and toilet paper.
