Hi,

Our Chicago youth center needs new flooring.  My name is Pastor Jason Platt of the Montrose Baptist Church in Chicago, and I am humbly asking you to come alongside us in raising money to cover the cost of materials for new flooring (the labor is being donated!).

The current tile flooring dates back to the late 1920's, and it has recently begun to flake away, creating an unsafe situation.  The youth center, which is utilized weekly by the SI2 youth group, Boy Scout Troop 81, and our children's ministry, is now off limits.  The situation has forced each of these groups to temporarily relocate.  Needless to say, the Youth Center at Montrose Baptist Church is a special place to these kids, and we want to fix the flooring issues and get it up and running again as quickly as possible.

In 1996, at the age of 19, I packed up my bags into our family's 1985 Dodge Ram van and left a small town in Southwest Michigan to begin studies at Moody Bible Institute in the heart of Chicago.  Little did I know that my first ministry assignment would be to a little church on Chicago's northwest side.  Our job - help this church establish a positive Christian outreach to neighborhood children and youth.

20 years later, I'm still here!  My wife Tanya and I have moved into the neighborhood and are pleased to be raising our four kids here.  It is now my great privilege to serve as pastor of this church.

Please consider a donation to help cover the cost of this flooring project.  No amount is too small...or too large!   The labor is being donated by experienced volunteers, so the cost is for materials only.  This is a $16,000 project that we are going to complete for $3,500.  Any extra money raised will help us install a restroom in the youth center (currently kids must walk downstairs and to another building to use the restroom).

Thank you for coming along side us as we continue our outreach to children and youth here in Chicago!

Thanks so much to all who who have contributed both with donations of labor and funds! Between generous online donations and those who have given at church, we've surpassed the $3,000 mark! Praise the Lord! I am deeply humbled and appreciative of the help we have received thus far.

I'm pleased to report that work has begun on the new floor. More updates and pictures will come as the flooring project continues.

If you are still considering jumping on board to help, it's not too late! Any extra funds we receive will help us install a much needed restroom.

Thanks again for all the prayers, well wishes, and support!

Blessings,
Pastor Jason

Thanks to everyone who is stepping up to the plate to share in this project. Whether your're able to share through giving or by spreading the word, every little bit helps. We're planning to start this project as soon as possible, so don't wait too long to hop on board!

So far we've received $105 from four online donors along with an additional $168 from people who have given directly to the project through the church.

The youth center floor space is approximately 1,900 sq. ft, including the two large rooms along with the hallway, kitchen, office and classrooms. Our plan is to seal the current tile and lay 1/4 inch plywood underlayment on top with commercial grade floor tiles on top of that. Any extra money we raise will help cover the cost of a small restroom.

This project is a timely concern, so we are purchasing materials and trusting the supporting funds to come in. Thank you so much to those who have given, both online and direct. We're on our way, but we've got a long way to go if we're going to reach our goal.

"May God bless both the gift and the giver."

Grace & Peace,
Pastor Jason
