School Supplies 4 a SC Community
“Notebooks” Not IPad…the cost of the internet is too much !
I grew up in a small place in South Carolina called Elliott. How small, you can’t call it a town or city. But truly “The Village”. Most of my family spent their entire life there.
My graduation class "77" in High School (The Mighty Rattlers) was less than 100 (72-75).
How close are we today ...This past June, calls went out to celebrated our longest serving Principal Mr. I.C. Joe’s 100th birthday. Truly a Father to all of us.
No matter what city you live Mr Joe would call you to let you know that a new arriving " Mt Pleasant Young man or Young Woman" will be under your care until they are established in that city. This is true family.
Several years ago I suggested to the church in which I grew up that I would purchase a book bag for each child. That fall I kept my promise. I saw the real need to help.
The community center is actually my grand uncle’s house and the wonderful woman who gives so much from so little struggles with that. This past month during a converstaion I heard a rumble in her heart. I told her"the children still need you dont give up on them.
Not long ago she called me from Staples asking if I could help buy some ink for a printer. ( just the ink) We later found out the cost of the ink for each color would be too expensive because it was so out of dated. I purchased a new printer for the center community.
This fall we will have a “Grill Off” just to encourage others to come to the annual Back to School Supply Give Away.
I would like to make this year’s Back to School special. Photos of the event would touch your heart.
