North Hi Mouth Playground

The North Hi Mount (NHM) PTA has successfully brought back the neighborhood elementary school now often referred to as “a hidden gem in Fort Worth”. In the last 5 years NHM has grown from 200 students to 490. Year over year, we work to improve our school we care for so deeply. This year, we brought in violins and ballet, increased brain breaks (recess) by 30 minutes, achieved Blue Zones Project Approval, developed a Beautification team of parents. 

And NOW... drum roll please... We are lucky enough to have received a grant through KaBOOM! and Foresters Financial to receive a new playground! Our 200 parent, staff and community volunteers will be building it on May 11th (yes in one day!).

The NHM field and playground are utilized by not only the students, but the community. The YMCA holds soccer and baseball games and practice year round. Neighbors bring their kids because it is a local play space. 

We want to raise funds to continue to support a better, safer and more fun outdoor space for the North Hi Mount School and local community. If you cannot make the May 11th build day but want to help our outdoor space transformation, please consider giving to this cause. 

Students divide their brain breaks between the courtyard and the playground area. TCU art students and professors undertook a project last spring to update the courtyard painting pictures and games in the space. North Hi Mount’s garden club has also been very prolific growing watermelons, okra, jalapenos, squash, peppers and figs and have begun a Junior Master Gardener’s program with the help of TCU students. Updating the playground would bring this initiative of improving the outdoor spaces for our children and community full circle.
