Help raise £2000 to help fund my volunteering!

Despite Bali being known as a beautiful holiday destination for most, it has a side that comes unknown to tourists. Approximately 26,000 people are living with mental illnesses being kept in 'pasung'. Pasung is where those who are mentally ill are locked away by families as they cannot afford treatment. In August 2020 I will be flying out to Bali for a month long psychology placement that will benefit my studies and future career path.

This placement involves over 40 hours of hands-on experience and training in one of the primary psychiatric hospitals in Indonesia to government run schools for children with specific needs and community initiatives for elderly residents. I'll additionally work with a wide range of individuals from all backgrounds, ages and abilities and be occasionally teaching English within the community.

All projects have a similar focus - to promote positive mental health as much as possible by boosting confidence, self-esteem and improving key life skills.

During my placement I will have the unique opportunity to live in an authentic Balinese village.
