Surgery for Grizz

Donation protected
The Short: Our newly adopted Bulldog Grizz needs surgery. He blew out the ligaments in his knee. The surgery to fix his leg is expensive ($3000), and we can't afford it. Right now, he is a tough not-so-little tripod, and we love him. We never thought we'd be people to ask for help for our pets with a fundraiser, but this year has been debilitating at best, and we need some help from our community to get Grizz walking on all fours again.

The Long: The past year has been...a lot. It was one of those years that kicks you when you are down and then laughs. Thankfully, we've had support. This support came from beautiful friends and family, but it also came from our pets. As you may know, Lauren and I love animals. We are passionate about rescuing animals and caring for them well. We are the type of people that would create an Instagram for their pets and invite people over for parties to celebrate their gotcha-days.

When we lost our baby through miscarriage, we found comfort in knowing our pets were eagerly waiting for us to come home from work, but not even our pets could get away untouched from our year from hell. Frida needed life-saving surgery after she was attacked by a wild dog. Our sweet Bella (Lauren's wedding present to me) had to have some cancerous lumps removed, only to suddenly collapse and die of heart failure six months later and years too soon. Needless to say, we were devastated and the $5,000 in emergency vet bills wiped our savings. That was a difficult task as we both are at the start of our careers and living in a very expensive city.

A few weeks after Bella died, we came across an amazing bulldog rescue - Bulldog Haven NW. This is where we found Grizzly and were overjoyed. After meeting Grizz, he quickly stole our hearts and became family. We were certain things were looking up, but here we are...again. Grizzly is still young and should have years ahead of him with us. He is a big dog, if he was a lot smaller breed than other options might get him by. However getting his leg fixed is vital to his quality of life and we think he deserves that.

We need $3,000 for Grizz to get the surgery that will get him back on his paws. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read our story.

Blessings,

Adam, Lauren, Frida,  Grizz (Bella + Baby, too)
