Kids Get Kicks

 Hello.  My name is Mike Keenan.  I am in the 8th grade and will be making my confirmation, June 2016.  This year, my confirmation class, from Holy Cross Church, has to perform 20 hours of community service.  So far, I have completed 10 hours of service.  I was looking through my confirmation booklet, for other ideas to help me complete my community service. That's when I saw, "fund raise for a charity".  That's when it came to me.  Start a fundrasier to collect money for sneakers, shoes and boots, for underprivileged kids.  I'm calling it, "Kids Get Kicks".

 My friends call me a "sneakerhead".  That's a person who loves and collects all types of sneakers.  I want to use my passion to help others in my community and possibly, beyond.

 All the money that I raise will be used to purchase new sneakers, shoes and boots for kids that can use them in my community.  I will work with my priest, Fr. Michael, to discuss the best way to get them to the kids that need them most. 

 I see kids in school and my community, with old, worn out sneakers, shoes and boots.  Guessing that, they may be "hand me downs"?  I love the feeling of wearing brand new sneakers, and I'm not sure if any of those kids I've seen, ever had that feeling.  That's why, this is important to me. It would be great to  give them that feeling that you and I have felt.  Plus brand new kicks!
